Windows 8 Gaming Afternoon

With an afternoon free I decided to try and improve my achievement score on the Windows 8 games which started with a quick go on Angry Birds Star Wars which saw a solitary unlock in the form of Simple Pigs and Nonsense (10G) for popping 300 Stormtroopers.

Onto Shark Dash and after an hour of playing I had unlocked all of the remaining eight achievements making it my 7th completed game of 2012 and 15th overall.

Sprayfish PartySprayfish PartyA Little Nudge (10G) unlocked for making a shark jump by hitting him from below and Cutter Shark (10G) popped up for cutting three bath chains in a single shot.



Sprayfish PartySprayfish PartyDrying in the Sun (15G) unlocked for being outside the water for more than seven seconds while I am Iron Head (10G) popped up for receiving three impacts in the same shot.

Sprayfish PartySprayfish PartySprayFish Party (15G) unlocked for activating three spray-fish in one shot and Party Popper (15G) popped up for destroying three inflatables in one shot.

Sprayfish PartySprayfish PartyCome To Poppa (15G) unlocked for having three ducks jump right into the shark's mouth consecutively and the final achievement was Deep Blue (10G) for eating six ducks underwater in a single shot.

The afternoon ended with a quick go on Microsoft Minesweeper and a single unlock in the shape of Good Memory (20G) for completing a minefield for the first time without using any flags. 

Nike+ Kinect Program 1 Completed

After four weeks and twelve sessions, my first program on Nike+ Kinect Training is complete and I was rewarded with two unlocks.

Perfect Attendance (25G) was awarded for completing a program without missing a scheduled session and also 1 Month Club (30G) for completing my first program.

Shark Dash Speeds In


A new game (Shark Dash) popped up on the Windows 8 Marketplace at £1.39 so at that price worth buying especially for 20 achievements which all have the same icon funnily enough.

Hungry (5G) unlocked for eating three ducks in a single shot and swiftly followed by Duck Meet Mouth (5G) after a duck jumped directly into the shark's mouth.

Rubber Ring (5G) unlocked for basically jumping through a rubber ring and Inflatable Explosion (5G) blew in for making an inflatable block explode.

Underwater Pop (5G) popped up for releasing a duck from its underwater bubble and MVP Shark (10G) unlocked for propelling a ball through a rubber ring.

Shark Got Bounce (15G) bumped in for bouncing around at least seven times during a single shot while Fireworks! (10G) exploded in for destroying seven mines consecutively.

Bursting Bubbles (10G) unlocked for popping at least nine bubbles in a single shot and Dizzy Block (10G) popped up or making a single block rotate over 1000 degrees.

Block Overboard! (10G) unlocked for launching a block out of the bathtub and followed by Liberation (5G) for releasing a shark and returning him to the water.

Nike+ Enters Week 4 As Family Guy Starts The Road To The Multiverse

Into the final week of the first program on Nike+ Kinect and two unlocks in Strike a Pose (15G) for dodging two consecutive walls in Split Decision without moving and Drill Sergeant (30G) for participating in 5 Take on the World drills. 

Another new game in the form of Family Guy Back To The Multiverse which in online reviews has been panned at 6/10 but in playing it for an hour or so, I quite liked it but that maybe a bias with being a fan of the TV show.


 In the inaugural play, there were five unlocks which began with One Shot Kills (5G) for basically killing an enemy with one shot and Head Shot (5G) popped up for killing an enemy with a single shot to the head.


Multi-kill with a grenade (15G) unlocked for a multi-kill with a grenade and soon joined by How Do I Jump? (5G) for suicide with a grenade or satchel charge.

All of the above were achieved on the first level of the story mode which when completed saw It's All Greek To Me (20G) unlock for completing the first level - 'It's All Greek To Me'.

F1 Race Stars Goes Abroad As COD BO2 Continues

This week has seen no action on the achievement front due to working a six day week which always sees a turn-down in playing hours due to tiredness but I forgot to post the last unlocks from the previous week so here goes...

Abu Dhabi Expert (10G) unlocked for winning an event on the Abu Dhabi circuit on the 3,000cc difficulty and Causing Trouble (25G) popped up for hitting a fellow driver after being eliminated in an Elimination event with both unlocking on F1 Race Stars.

On Black Ops 2, Driven By Rage (20G) unlocked for taking down Menendez and ending his terrorist operation.

F1 Race Stars Trials Time While Angry Birds Star Wars Goes Jedi Style

I continued the career on F1 Race Stars and unlocked Scientific Method (10G) for using each power-up successfully and it was swiftly followed by Brazil Expert (10G) for winning an event in Brazil on the 3,000cc difficulty.

Qualifying Lap (10G) unlocked when I entered the time trial mode and successfully completed a time trial.


Onto Angry Birds Star Wars and two quick unlocks in Prominent Jedi (10G) for deflecting three lasers with a light saber and Jedi Initiate (10G) for smashing 50 blocks with a light saber.

F1 Race Stars Goes Karting While COD BO2 And Wreckateer Shoot In

COD Black Ops continued with the solitary unlock of Shifting Sands (20G) for gathering information on Raul Menendez from Mullah Rahmaan. Wreckateer added to an expanding game list after being offered for free on the Marketplace for the XBL 10 year anniversary and unlocked Quick Study (5G) for earning a first medal on the game.

 Another new entry to the blog is F1 Race Stars which sees the 2012 drivers morph into avatars and swap their cars for karts in a new take on the famous circuits of the F1 calendar and across 24 hours saw 13 unlocks.

I started by playing the career mode and chose Vettel and his Red Bull to begin my trophy chase and claimed my first unlock. Slipstreamer (5G) for simply slipstreaming past a driver and in the same race up popped Whoops! (10G) for hitting myself with my own Ricochet Bubble which saw me finish in second place.


After the first two races, Career Is GO! (10G) unlocked for winning my first championship and in doing so up popped Taste Of Victory (5G) for my first race win.

Italy Expert (10G) unlocked for winning the Italian event on the 3,000cc difficulty and up popped Nailed The Jump (5G) for triggering a jump boost.

 
Pitmaster (10G) drove in for repairing my car at a pit-stop 10 times and in the same race, Slipstream Expert (25G) unlocked for slip streaming past 50 drivers which was quickly earned thanks to Vettel's Slipstream boost.

In the next two races, Singapore Expert (10G) and Australian Expert (10G) popped up for winning a Singapore and Australian event on the 3,000cc difficulty and Heavyweight (10G) unlocked for affecting three drivers with the same Pulse power-up.  

After the stint on the career, I went onto the online mode to test my skill and unlocked Internet Famous (25G) for my first online win which came on the German track and as such led to Germany Expert (10G) unlocking for winning in Germany on the 3,000cc difficulty.

Week 2 of the program and a quick unlock in Perfection (25G) for perfecting every rep in a drill and on Angry Birds Star Wars, There's No-one Here (10G) unlocked as one Storm-trooper shot another.

Call Of Duty Black Ops II Fires In

Another new game in the shape of Call of Duty Black Ops II (COD BO2) and I started the campaign on the Hardened setting and scored a quick unlock in No Man Left Behind (20G) for rescuing Woods. Gathering Storm (20G) popped up next for exploring the Jungle facility.

Just Gettin' Started (10G) unlocked for completing a challenge in any level and became my 3400th achievement.
